Our Fall 2015 HPIE Day was held on Wednesday, December 9th in the SOCH Penthouse. Students from across the Boston area came to discuss the Syrian refugee crisis from the point-of-view of various countries, including the United States, Syria, Jordan, and the United Kingdom. After developing their positions, each student group representing a different country had to negotiate with others to determine a plan of action.
After lunch, students got to work on their posters detailing their country’s stance. The students then presented their results to everyone and later listened to an international relations practitioner discuss the refugee crisis in-depth, even Skyping in with an actual Syrian refugee who had fled the conflict.
