Co-Director

I am a junior in Currier House studying Government. I am on the Data Science Track, meaning that I study the use of data analysis and quantitative research methods within the discipline of political science. I have been involved in HPIE since the beginning of my freshman year, and last year, I served as Comptroller. I look forward to continuing to introduce international relations-related topics to high school students in the Boston area.

Donia Elmansy, ’23

Co-Director

Donia is a senior from Connecticut studying Government and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations with a secondary in Economics. She’s been involved in HPIE since freshman year and has loved teaching classes. Her interests lie in diplomacy and global affairs and she hopes to work abroad in the future. Outside of HPIE, she enjoys working with high schoolers through the Harvard Model UN conference. She’s also mentored in the past through the Emerging Leaders Program at the Radcliffe Institute. She can’t wait to continue working with HPIE classes this upcoming year and take on the co-director role!

Ričards Umbraško, ’25

Head Tutor

Ričards is a sophomore in Dunster House concentrating in History and Literature. Born and raised in Riga, Latvia, he’s interested in international relations, education, and social policy. As Head Tutor of HPIE this year, he’s excited to bring an exciting and engaging curriculum on global institutions to Boston area high schools. Outside HPIE, he’s worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, and he writes for the Harvard International Review, where he serves as an Executive Content Editor focusing on Eastern European politics, society, and culture.

Jose Valdez Genao, ’25

Comptroller

I’m Jose, a sophomore living in Kirkland House. My hometown is Santo Domingo, and I’m thinking about concentrating in Government. On campus, I do choir and I’m a member of cultural organizations like the Dominican students Association. I chose to work with HPIE because studying International Relations changed my perspective on important issues like development or inequality. It made me aware of other cultures and realities, and HPIE is the ideal space on campus for me to share this knowledge with others.

In my free time, I love to explore Boston and the US, visit museums and do yoga!
