Frequently Asked Questions

For Teachers

What grade levels are HPIE for?

HPIE is for all high school levels! We’ve taught students of all ages, from high school freshmen to seniors.

How long is the program?

The program runs for approximately seven weeks, which includes one introductory week (where tutors are introduced and curriculum booklets are handed out) and six weeks with briefs. However, all seven weeks are not required and we can tailor the program to however many weeks your class is available.

Do my students need any preparation before participating in HPIE?

None at all. We make sure that each lesson is fully accessible for all students, whether they follow current international events or not. We provide curriculum booklets for every student at the beginning of the semester.

What if my class’s weekly availability fluctuates (block scheduling, etc.)?

We’re extremely flexible with block scheduling and will work with you to figure out what dates the best work with your availability. Many of the schools we currently work with are on block schedules that require our tutors to adapt the days and times they come into the classroom.

I’d love to participate, but I think my school is too far away from Harvard.

All of our tutors are willing to travel! We’ve taught in and around Boston, including at Quincy High School, North Quincy High School, Belmont High School, Boston Latin School, the International School of Boston, and Urban Science Academy. Contact us and we’ll do our best to work out travel arrangements.

How do I get involved or receive more information?

Contact us! We would be more than happy to give you more information and help you to get involved.
